Some of us are in rooms. And some of us are even seated at tables and do not even realize it. The guest of honor is not always instantly noticeable and frankly perceptible. Often, we can trace reality back to perspective. Many of the aforementioned rooms and tables are not even be physical. What I mean is this- many of us hold places of position, power, and influence we take for granted. Professionally, your career belongs to more than just you. What makes a meaningful career makes a meaningful life. The ingredients are the same. Neither is ours to squander. Like it or not, someone may be depending on you to see them, engage and advocate, and speak up for their plight as an ally. Who could they be? Personally, you may have people you expect to notice you, care for you, and serve you. Who is counting on you? Recently, I have been in the process of recognizing and taking inventory of those rooms and tables. Who needs a reservation? Let's not just take up space. Let's reclaim it. More than our own glory is at stake.
